Yes, Christmas is just around the corner and this week's challenge for Tea Time was to work with christmas lights in the background. I managed to capture these great pictures of my kids. I love the colors and most of all I love their expressions. And this was the fun layout I came up with. Tea Time: Pictures with a Shallow Depth of Field/ Fotos com Fundo Desfocado

I love this series of pictures of Diana at the park. They captured exactly who she is: spirited,
full of laughter and energy. When she laughs it's hard not to laugh with her. When she plays it's hard not to be absorbed by it. She may not be smiling in this picture but I can see the wheels in her head spinning. It was a momentary pause to consider "what's next?" The use of a shallow depth of field only enhances the focus on my girl. I sure do love that kid!!! Now make sure you stop by the Scrap Café to see what the girls have created as well...

Amo esta série de fotos da Diana no parque. Nelas vejo a personalidade da minha filha: cheia de vida, sorrisos e energia. Quando ela ri, é difícil não rir junto com ela. Quando ela entra no mundo da imaginação é difícil não ser carregada junto com ela. Ela pode não estar sorrindo nesta foto mas com toda certeza dá pra ver que a cabeça dela está a mil por hora. Foi uma pausa temporária pra tentar decifrar o próximo passo dela. O uso de um fundo desfocado só realçou minha menina na foto. Como amo esa garotinha!!! Tea Time: circles/círculos

Our theme for our bi-weekly Tea Time? Circles! Why? Because circles are fun and evoke movement. I chose pictures I took of my daughter at the playground I took for one of the many pictures I take for Bellepoq Photography. And yes, I know I forgot to share it here but I now have a blog dedicated to my photography. Make a quick stop over there and share the love, will you? ;) But back to my page. Diana is always full of energy and the experience at the park was no different. She ran around while I chased her and kept taunting me with "catch me Mommy!" The result? Nosso tema da semana pro Tea Time? Círculos! Por que? Porque os círculos são divertidos e evocam movimento. Então escolhi fotos da minha filha no parquinho aonde tirei várias fotos dela pro blog da Bellepoq Photography. Pois é, nem anunciei aqui mas tenho um blog novo exclusivamente dedicado a minha fotografia. Então quando puderem passem lá pra me fazerem uma visitinha, ok? ;) Mas vamos voltar à página de scrap. Diana tem uma energia que não acaba nunca. É claro que a ida dela ao parque não podia deixar de ser diferente. Ela correu voltas em torno do parque sempre gritando: "Mãe vem me pegar!" E eu saí correndo atrás tirando fotos. O resultado? Lindas fotos que ficaram perfeitas pra esse tema de círculos. A Promise Fulfilled

A little over 5 years ago I received a package in the mail from my friend Ana. Inside it was a dress she had carefully picked out for my daughter. I can't remember if I was still pregnant at the time or a new Mom. But I remember opening that package and understanding exactly what my friend was trying to say. Those were difficult days for me: I had two young boys, a new baby, I was alone on an island far away from my family and friends and my marriage had just fallen apart. I don't think there was a day that went by that I didn't shed a tear. And yet that tiny dress came with a promise from my friend: she knew things would not stay like that forever. Something was going to happen. Something wonderful. She knew that I would turn things around and when I did she would be there to cheer me on. In the meantime, she would always be there to hold my hand even if that meant it had to be done over the phone with a 13 hour time difference. I loved her for that.

Well, 5 years seem to have come and gone in a blink of an eye. Ana was right: life changed. Diana is such a joy to have around. The boys have matured into wonderful little men. And I am living the greatest adventure yet. The best part has been the joy I have experienced. Oh life still does get crazy but it is nice to know that tomorrow always holds the promise of peace. Yes, Ana your promise was fulfilled. Thank you so much for seeing beyond my pain. Thank you for still being here by my side, constantly watching me grow. I love our friendship. I love you...

Tea Time: Sketch

So I am finally back. I was unable to take part in the last Tea Time due to an injured neck. It took a few days but it finally felt better. So this week I am here with a page based on a sketch by Pagemaps. I had just taken these pictures of our family and thought it would be fun to scrapbook them. This was a fun photo shoot as you may be able to tell by all the happy faces. Although it took some face-making and general silliness to get them there. Once I distract these kids from the fact that I have the big black box of doom (= camera) in my hands I can usually get them to relax and be exactly who they are. The resulting pictures just tug at my heart strings. I hope you enjoy this page and once you are done looking at it make sure you stop by the Scrap Café to see what the girls have come up with...

Finalmente voltei. Não pude participar do último Tea Time por causa de um torcicolo horrivel. Levou alguns dias mas eventualmente tudo voltou ao normal. Então semana estou aqui participando com um sketch da Pagemaps. Acabei de tirar essas fotos da nossa família e achei que seria divertido usá-las. Tirar fotos dessas crianças é sempre divertido eo resultado sempre muito legal. O truque é distrar as crianças pra que eles n prestem atenção ao "buraco negro" fotográfico (= a câmera) nas minhas mão. Falamos muita bobagem e fizemos muitas caretas. As crianças logo relaxaram e tive a oportunidade de tirar fotos maravilhosas. Bom, espero que gostem da página e não deixem de passar lá no Café do Scrap pra ver o que as outras meninas aprontaram.

Tea Time: Oh Girl!!!

So you really didn't think we would leave the girls behind after honoring the boys last week, did you? Yes, our Tea Time is all about the girls and of course I had to work with one of those wonderful pictures I took of Diana on her birthday. This picture of her was probably my favorite. Yesterday was my Diana's Birthday. The BIG 5! An absolute milestone. And I can't tell you enough how lucky I am to have her in my life. Love that girl. So without further ado, here is a photoshoot of the Princess taken on Saturday! ;)

September's Guest Designer at the Scrapeteiras/ Guest Designer de Setembro nas Scrapeteiras

Guess what??? I was invited by a dear friend to be September's guest designer at the Scrapeteiras' blog. Sheyla along with some other very talented girls use this blog to inspire other scrappers. Tea Time: Back to School / Volta às Aulas

This week's Tea Time is all about going back to school. Clearly that is what is on my brain these past few weeks. Especially considering that my kiddos have done so amazingly well in school. Diana is just gobbling up whatever her kindergarden teacher throws her way: she is reading 8 sight words, she knows how to write her name and she enjoys practicing her alphabet. I know she has just started but I am expecting great things from that little one. Arthur is the same as usual. My straight A boy. He has brought home 2 report cards (from Language Arts and Math). He has a 100% average in both classes. Let's not mention that he is in honor classes. That kid always makes me proud. As for Philip he took me by complete surprise this year. I had a meeting with his teacher and she told me that is doing math on a 4th grade level (he is currently in 3rd grade). Not only that but he got a 100% on his evaluation test. His reading is on end of 3rd/beginning of 4th grade level. She is planning on pushing my boy so that he can continue to grow. Philip has always been very smart but I think he has matured and grown a lot this past summer. And now he is definitely flying high. I am so very proud of him... So here is my layout. Yes, I featured Diana in it on her very 1st day of school. But all 3 make me very proud. I sure love being their Mom!!! O tema do nosso Tea Time essa semana é "Volta às Aulas". Afinal é só nisso que penso desde que as aulas das crianças começaram. Diana está no kindergarden e amando de paixão. Aos poucos ela está aprendendo a ler e escrever. Aliás o nome dela ela sabe escrever. Arthur pra variar só tira 10 nas aulas dele. Babo de orgulho com as notas dele. Philipe esse ano me surpreendeu. Tive uma reunião com a professora dele e ela me disse que eles está lendo e fazendo matemática bem acima dá série dele. Ela vai continuar incentivando o menino. Fiquei tão feliz. Afinal Philipe amadureceu muito durante essas férias e agora estou vendo que ele está realmente voando bem alto. Sim, sei que meu layout só tem foto da Diana no primeiro dia de aula dela. Mas meus 3 filhotes me deixam super hiper orgulhosa. Amo ser mãe deles!!! Agora não deixem de passar lá no Café do Scrap pra ver o que as meninas aprontaram.

Tea Time: Shadowbox

Oh it is so good to be creative again... As much as I have enjoyed my "new family," it has been hard trying to find time for everything and get my creative groove on. You know the drill: bigger house, more people, more laundry, more people to feed. Don't get me wrong, this is not a complaint. I have enjoyed taking care of everyone (except the laundry part but honestly, who likes laundry?). I did miss being creative though. But now kids are in school and I am beginning to find a rhythm. Also my wonderful family has pitched in a little here and there so that I was able to find time for me. So here I am. With a beautiful shadowbox of some of my favorite people on earth. Yes my Tea Time this week is a "love letter" to my peeps. They keep me on my toes, make me laugh and definitely make me feel like I belong with them. I hope you enjoy my creation as much as me. Ai como é bom criar novamente... Por mais que esteja curtindo muito minha "nova família," tem sido super dificíl achar um tempo pra brincar no meu canto. Vocês conhecem bem a estória: uma casa maior, mais gente, mais roupa pra lavar, mais gente pra alimentar. Mas não pensem que estou reclamando não. Tenho curtido imesamente cuidar de todo mundo (com excessão da parte aonde tenho que lavar roupa, afinal lavar roupa todo dia é uma agonia). Só que também tenho sentido muita falta de criar. Porém agoras as crianças voltaram às aulas e estou finalmente achando um ritmo. Além disso a galera aqui em casa tem tentando me ajudar pra justamente eu ter um tempinho pras minhas coisinhas. Então estou aqui: com um lindo shadowbox que criei pra essa turminha que amo tanto. Meu Tea Time na realidade é uma grade declaração de amor. Porque essa gente querida enche minha vida com surpresas e gargalhadas. Porque eles sabem que somos uma grade família. Espero que vocês gostem do meu shadowbox tanto quanto eu gostei. Kentucky State Fair/ Feira Estadual de Kentucky

So I know. I dropped off the face of this earth. But between the move, a vacation to North Carolina with all the kids and settling my kids into a new school... I have just been busier than I ever thought I would be. But now with the beginning of the school year I am hoping to come back to the blog, my photography and scrapbooking of course. I sure have missed being creative. The reason I stopped by today though is to share some great news: I entered some scrapbooking pages into the Kentucky State Fair and one of my pages won the blue ribbon. Two others received an honorable mention. Really cool stuff!!! We were all very excited here! So I fugured I would share the pictures of the pages with their ribbons. Hope you enjoy them!

Ai... eu sei... Sumi de vez! Mas com a mudança, férias na Carolina do Norte com todas a negada e ajudando meus filhos a se adaptarem à escola nova, relamente não tenho nem tido tempo pra espirrar. Mas agora que o ano letivo começou aqui quero voltar ao meu canto aqui no blog, às minhas páginas de scrap e a editar minhas fotografias. Sinto uma saudade imensa de criar. Mas o grande motivo da minha passada aqui é pra contar uma novidade pra vocês: entrei no concurso de scrap da Feira Estadual de Kentucky e uma das minhas páginas ganhou o primeiro lugar. Outras duas ganharam menção honrosa. Muito legal, não é? Aqui em casa ficaram todos super orgulhosos. Então resolvi passar aqui e mostrar as fotos das páginas pra vocês.

Tea Time: Family Time/ Tempo com a Família

After a short time away, I am back with another Tea Time. The idea was to either use Easter pictures or pictures of the family together. Of course I could not resist these pictures of Mom and Diana together so my choice was pretty obvious. Those two have definitely become pretty close. And it warms my heart to see them that way.

Após uma pequena ausência voltei com mais um Tea Time. A idéia era criar uma página com fotos de Páscoa ou em família. É claro que quando vi essas fotos da Mamãe com a Diana não resisti. Vocês têm que ver o apego das duas. É muito lindo vê-las juntinhas...

I am sure all of you want to know how things with the move are going. Well, all the big furniture is over at James's house. I have mostly found room for everything too. But there is still a lot of work to be done. As soon as I get things in their place I promise I will come back with pictures. But that may not happen until the summer.

Tenho certeza de que vocês estão curiosíssimas para saber da minha mudança. Bom... todos os móveis já estão na casa do James. E já está quase tudo em seu lugar. Tea Time: Using Baking Cups (Usando Forminhas de Brigadeiro)

This Tea Time is a reflection of my spirit in the past week: it is full of joy and color. Having Mom and Dad here has been wondrful beyond belief even if it has been very busy. But that is to be expected considering the move and all. So today I am going to keep this post very brief because I have to get into my boys's room to pack. A impressão que tive quando vi esse Tea Time pronto foi que ele refletia a alegria e o colorido que estão presentes em minha alma desde que Mamãe e Tio João chegaram aqui. Tem sido maravilhoso estar junto deles. A gente realmente não tem parado um segundo sequer. Então vou manter este post pequenino hoje já que tenho que empacotar o quarto dos meninos. Tea Time: Sketch

I am so behind with my Tea Time!!! But it is all for very good reason. The first one is due to a move. Yes the kids and I are in the process of packing our house and moving in with James and his kids. It has been and will continue to be a very sloooow process since we won't officially be living there until the summer. But I just didn't want to leave things until the last minute. That way I also get to make new "pretties" for the house from my existing craft room. :) The second reason is due to a visit from my parents after a very long time absence. They will be here for over a month and you bet we are going to have loads of fun. So I have been trying to get ready for their arrival tomorrow. I just can't wait... And amongst my very long list was this beautiful page based on a card sketch. This is Annelise, James's oldest daughter. I took this picture of her once day when she was trying to hide from the camera. Yes, she was very unsuccesful. I loved how the picture turned out. I also loved my creation. It was fun coming up with the background for the page with modeling paste, stamps and paint. Ai como estou atrasada com meu Tea Time!!! Mas são por dois motivos maravilhosos. O primeiro é por uma mudança. Sim, eu e as crainças estamos empacotando a casa e indo morar juntinho do James e os filhotes deles. Tem sido um loooongo processo e continuará sendo assim por um tempo já que não estaremos vivendo lá oficialmente até Junho. Mas assim não preciso fazer aquele grande mudança no último minuto. E enquanto isso vou aproveitando para fazer coisitas lindas para enfeitar a casa nova. :) O segundo motivo é a visita de meus pais. Após uma longa ausência eles estão vindo me ver. Vocês nem imaginam a minha alegria!!! Tô num ansiedade só. Então entre as mil coisas que tenho tido que fazer está o post dessa linda página baseada num sketch de cartão. Essa menina linda é a Annelise, filha mais velha do James. Tirei essa foto quando ela estava tentando se esconder da câmera. E a foto ficou divina. Também fiquei apaixonada pela página. Foi divertido criar esse fundo com pasta de modelar, carimbos e tinta acrílica. Quando terminarem de olhar minha página não deidem de passar lá no Café do Scrap pra ver o que as meninas aprontaram.

After an extremely busy weekend (and start of the week) I'm back with another Tea Time. This time we decided to make something for our kitchens and I chose these adorable apples on a stand to alter. So I wrote a little recipe which hopefully reflects the mass chaos, fun and love we share. The times we spend together in the kitchen are always full of laughter and good food. Yes, it became a little mini album which now sits on the kitchen counter. This kids all thought the apples were very cute and that (as you may very well suspect) made me very happy. Now don't forget to stop by the Scrap Café to see what the other girls have created for their kitchens.

Após um fim-de-semana (e início de semana) super hiper agitado passei aqui para postar meu Tea Time. Dessa vez resolvemos fazer algo para enfeitar nossas cozinhas e escolhi alterar essas lindas maçãs com suporte. Resolvi escrever uma receitinha que refletisse a loucura, alegria e amor de nossa família. Toda vez que vamos parar na cozinha a gente acaba sempre rindo, conversando e comendo muito. São momentos pra lá de gosotosos. Então minhas maçãs viraram um mini pra enfeitar minha bancada. As crianças amaram e isto (como vocês bem podem imaginar) me deixou super feliz. Agora, não esqueçam de passar lá no Café do Scrap pra ver o que as meninas fizeram pras suas cozinhas.

Before I leave you, I would also like to share a tray I worked on for the kitchen. It was a simple wooden tray but I added a lot of paint, crackle effect, paper scraps some stamps and voilá: I got a new tray to hold a few go to kitchen items on our counter.

Antes de ir embora também gostaria de mostrar a vocês uma bandeja que alterei para a cozinha. Era uma bandeja simples, de madeira. Mas botei muita tinta acrílica, efeito craquelê, restinho de papel, carimbos e voilá: tenho uma badeja novinha na bancada da cozinha com as coisas que mais usamos nela.

Home Decor: Dressing Up Your Walls / Enfeitando suas Paredes

Last week I worked on two different projects simply because I was inspired. Both of them were meant to dress up my walls. The first one was a canvas that I purchased to display these 3 gorgeous pictures taken by my good friend and amazing photographer Ana Rocha. I painted the canvas and tried to keep things as simple as possible as I wanted the pictures to be the main stars of the show. I painted a black (uneven) frame around the pictures and added just a few embellishments. I loved the results and I now have the canvas hanging in the dining room. Check out the results:

Semana passada completei dois projetos diferentes simplesmente porque estava inspirada. Ambos foram feitos para serem dependurados. O primeiro foi um canvas que comprei pra botar essas três lindas fotos de uma grande amiga e fotógrafa maravilhosa Ana Rocha. Pintei o canvas e tentei manter tudo super simples pois queria que es fotos fossem o destaque. Pintei uma moldura (com linhas bem tortas) em torno das fotos e botei pouquíssimos enfeites. Fiquei apaixonada pelo resultado e resolvi dependurar o quadro na minha sala de jantar. Vejam só como ficou:

The second project I worked on was a frame. It is one of those meant to be hung. Originally the frame was simply painted white with cork recessed around the opening for the picture (I wish I had taken the picture of it before I worked on it). It wasn't ugly but it also lacked pizzazz. So what did I do? I painted the white with some green crackle paint, added two different types of metal fencing, crumpled up tissue paper, paper decorations from the Kit-ute Camafeu, flowers, ribbons, rub-ons and a quote. In the middle I had to add a picture of James and me. Eventually this frame is going to make its way to my bedroom but for now it is sitting on the living room mantel. Take a look:

O segundo projeto é um porta retrato. Desses que são feitos pra dependurar na parede, sabe? O original era branco com cortiça em torno da abertura pra foto (devia ter tirado fotos do "antes"). Não era feio mas n tinha charme nenhum também. Então sabe o que fiz? Pintei a moldura com uma tinta craquelê verde, botei dois tipos diferentes de cerca de metal, papel crepom bem amassado, enfeites do Kit-ute Camafeu, flores, fitas, rub-on e uma frase. No centro de tudo tem uma foto minha e do James. Eventualmente essa foto vai morar no meu quarto mas no momento ela está em cima da lareira. Olhem só como ficou:

Tea Time: Home Decor

This week's Tea Time was a lot of fun to work with. We decided to decorate some boxes for our houses. In my case I needed a box to put away all the paperwork that is piled up on the kitchen counter. Now it is all neatly stacked in the box, a home for them until a certain someone decides to go through them and purge what is not necessary. I also needed a spot for pens & pencils so that kids could go straight to them when homework needed to be done. So the little wooden purse became that spot. I chose papers that would go well in the kitchen and that would look nice when placed side by side. I trully enjoyed the results. O Tea Time dessa semana foi super divertido. Decidimos decorar umas caixas para enfeitar nossas casas. No meu caso escolhi umas caixas para botar na cozinha. Uma para guardar a papelada que fica jogada em cima de uma das bancadas (agora elas terão um lugar só delas até que um certo alguém resolva jogar fora o que não é necessário guardar) e a outra para guardar lápis e canetas (assim as crianças poderão fazer seus deveres de casa sem desculpas). A caixa quadrada virou o canto das papeladas e a bolsinha, o canto dos lápis e canetas. Escolhi papéis que ficariam bonitos na cozinha e que poderiam coordenar entre si quando as caixas estivessem uma do lado da outra. Adorei o vê-las juntinhas na cozinha, organizando a zona que existia lá... Agora não deixem de passar lá no Café do Scrap para ver o que as meninas aprontaram.

And one more thing before I bid you good-bye. A couple of weeks ago, Amelia threw a Tea Party for her friends. I was priveleged enough to stop by and get some pictures of the girls. Even though I did take pictures of all the guests I am only posting pictures of "my" girls here. Hey there, I'm back. It's been a crazy couple of weeks with lots of snow (which led to snow days) and lots of organizing. But amidst it all I still found time to work on this layout for our Tea Time. These pictures have got to be some of my favorite pictures ever. The boys had just gotten these super soaker guns and were outside getting soaked! I grabbed my camera and just got the most amazing shots. Fortunately for me I was using my super zoom lens so they did NOT get me wet. Anway, I hope you enjoy the layout. And don't forget to stop by the Scrap Café to see what the girls have done.

Oi meninas, voltei. Vocês nem imaginam a loucura dessas últimas duas semanas: muita neve (com crianças em casa pois as aulas deles foram canceladas) e muitas tentativas de dar ordem à casa. Mas apesar disso consegui fazer o Tea Time da semana. As fotos que usei nesse layout são provavelmente umas das minhas fotos prediletas. Os meninos tinham acabado de ganhar uns revólveres de água e estavam se encharcando. É claro que peguei minha câmera pra tirar fotos desses moleques. Graças a Deus ele não conseguiram me encharcar pois estava usando uma lente que tem um zoom maravilhoso. Agora, não deixem de passar lá no Café do Scrap pra ver o que as meninas aprontaram.

Tea Time : Journaling & Sketch

Hey there Blog Readers! It's been a while, hasn't it? Well I haven't forgotten the existance of my blog but life has been crazier than usual here. Between the time my kids were out of school, family visiting, a little winter get away with kids, Christmas and Arthur's Birthday (my baby just turned 12!) I have barely had any time to breathe. Life seems to be settling down though and now I am back with not one but two wonderful layouts for our Tea Time. Both are Christmas layouts: the one with the picture of the 3 kids is from 2009 and the one with pictures of Diana is from 2010. I love working on these Christmas layouts because it always brings me back to the magic of those days. My kids are always expectant and their eyes shine when they see the presents piled high under the tree. It's trully delicious! Even if I AM sleep deprived. I promise to come back with pictures of the magical mayhem soon. And I sincerely do hope you had an amazing Christmas. May 2011 bring you joy and may all your dreams come true. Olá gente querida!!! Que saudades de vocês!!! Ai, sei que abandonei meu blog mas vocês não imaginam a correria do final do ano aqui em casa. Além do Natal e criançada de férias, meus tios vieram me visitar, resolvemos viajar e teve o aniversário do Arthur também (ele fez 12 aninhos!). Uma delicia de loucura mas agora parece que tudo está se acalmando novamente e estou aos poucos voltando ao ritmo normal daqui de casa. Então estou aqui com 2 layouts para o nosso Tea Time. Amos têm como tema o Natal. O primeiro com foto dos 3 filhotes foi do Natal de 2009. O segundo com fotos da Diana foi do Natal de 2010. Amo trabalhar com fotos de Natal pois sempre me fazem lembrar da magia desses dias. As crianças estão sempre cheias de esperança e os olhos deles brilham quando vêem os presentes debaixo da árvore. É uma verdadeira delicia, mesmo levando em consideração a noite mal dormida! Prometo voltar em breve com fotos da zona mágica das crianças. Espero que o Natal de vocês tenha sido maravilhoso. Time for Tea Time! Yay!!! This week I worked with a picture I took of Philip last year. He had just opened his Christmas presents. The magic at that moment was very tangible and I must admit that I too did "believe." ;) So once you are done looking at my layout run on over to the Scrap Café and take a look at what this girls have created.

Oba!!! Chegou mais um Tea Time! Essa semana usei uma foto do Philipe que tirei ano passado logo depois que ele abriu seus presentes de Natal. A magia que senti nesse momento era tão forte que eu também resolvi "acreditar". ;) Então quando terminarem de olhar meu layout, corram lá no Café do Scrap pra ver o que as meninas aprontaram.

Tea Time: Resist

Oh it's been a busy weekend: I took the time to decorate the house for Christmas. And if you only knew about all the Christmas stuff I have you would know that was no small feat. Now I think we are almost ready for Good Ol' St. Nick. Especially since the snow fairy has decided to dump a little snow on us over the weekend. :D Since "the weather outside is frightful" (let it snow, let it snow, let it snow) why not grab that nice warm cup of coffee and curl up under your blanket for this Tea Time? I am so glad that I finally scrapbooked this gorgeous picture of Arthur playing in the snow. I snapped that picture of him while he was chasing me around to throw a snowball at me. And even though this was less than a year ago I am still shocked to see how much my kid has grown since then. And even though I can still remember the cold temperatures of that day (and today's temperature is definitely helping) my heart just fills with warmth. So I decided to play with both cool (green) and warm (red) colors. The falling snowflakes around him remind me of the light hearted running around and giggling we did that day. It was a day of connection, fun and love. Now don't forget to stop by the Scrap Café and see the other gorgeous things the girls have come up with.

Ai o fim-de-semana foi uma loucura: resolvi enfeitar a casa pro Natal. E se vocês soubessem da quantidade de enfeites que tenho teriam certeza absoluta que n foi fácil. Mas agora a casa está linda e estamos anciosamente aguardando a chegada do Papai Noel. O tempo também está ajudando bastante já que nevou um pouco no fim-de-semana e hoje também. O suficiente pra cobrir o chão. :D E já que o tempo lá fora está pra lá de gelado que tal pegar um cafézinho bem gostoso, se enroscar com um belo cobertor e me fazer compania pro Tea Time de hoje? Foi tão bom finalmente usar essa linda foto do Arthur brincando na neve. Tirei essa foto quando ele estava correndo atrás de mim com uma bola de neve na mão dele. Quando peguei a foto cheguei a levar um susto. Tem menos de 1 ano que tirei a foto e no entanto meu menino cresceu tanto. Ai como esse dia estava gelado (tão frio quanto hoje) e no entanto nem sinto o frio porque meu coração transborda de emoção ao ver o rostinho lindo do Arthur. Por causa disso resolvi trabalhar tanto com cores frias (o verde) e quentes (o vermelho). Os flocos de neve caindo ao redor da foto me fazem lembrar da lveza de espírito desse dia: o amor, as gargalhadas e o forte laço que tenho com meu filho. Quando terminarem de olhar o meu layout não deixem de passar lá no Café do Scrap pra ver as coisas lindas que as meninas aprontaram.

So... How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was amazing: lots of yummy food and wonderful company. And to top it all off we danced until we almost dropped after lunch. And not just any kind of dancing... ballroom dancing. We did the tango, the rumba, the samba, the merengue, the bolero, the foxtrot among other things. Sooooo much fun. Now if we only could convince those kids to dance with us... LOL But I know why you are all here: to talk about the Tea Time. So here it is. Definitely "an old fashioned romance". And you may be wondering why... Well... because we still believe in holding hands, looking into eachother's eyes, spending time doing absolutely nothing together and talking. Yes... I agree that this may all be part of a modern romance but I just like the way the title sounds, ok? ;) So once you are done looking at my layout, run on over to the Scrap Café to see what the girls have done...

Ai gente... Vou te contar: meu Thanksgiving foi absolutamente maravilhoso!!! A comida estava pra lá de deliciosa e a compania melhor ainda. E depois de tanto estufar a barriga nós aproveitamos pra dançar muito. Dançamos o tango, rumba, samba, merengue, bolero além de muitas outras danças. Olha foi uma delicia. Tea Time: Measuring Time / Medindo o Tempo (Otherwise known as using a Measuring Tape / Também conhecido como Usando Fita Métrica)

Ah!!! What a nice pause for a spot of Tea Time... Because the rest of my week will be insane. But the kind of insanity you look forward to. You know the kind... Kids running all over the place, lots of good food (which entails lots of cooking), laughter, togetherness and the amazing company of amazing people. Why all this? It's Thanksgiving, of course. Every Thanksgiving my kids and I like to speak of the things we are grateful for. So keeping with tradition I would love to mention here that I am grateful for all my blog readers. I love your visits and comments. Thank you for your kind words and the friendships that have developed via this little space of mine. ;) Ready for my layout? This week we had to use a measuring tape. I decided that I simply had to measure time with it. Why? Mainly because this little girl is just growing way too fast. I want her to slow down. I want her to be a baby, my baby... my last baby. I know that is impossible but... I can wish for it and register that wish on a layout. I borrowed the idea for the tag photo mat from my fellow Oulala Pati Dias. Well... enjoy the layout and when you are done make sure you stop by the Scrap Café to see what the other girls have created...

Ah!!! É tão bom poder fazer uma pequena pausa pro nosso Tea Time... Sabem por que? Porque o resto da minha semana vai ser uma loucura só. Mas loucura das boas: crianças correndo pela casa, muita comida boa (é claro que junto com isso vem a parte aonde vou ter que cozinhar muita comida boa), gargalhadas e pessoas amadas e maravilhosas bem juntinhas curtindo tudo ao seu redor. Agora vocês devem estar se perguntando o por que disto tudo, não é? Porque quinta feira é o dia de Ação de Graças aqui. Nesse dia eu e as crianças gostamos de dar graças por todas coisas boas que temos. É tradição aqui em casa. Então gostaria de agradecer a vocês pelas visitas e os comentários sempre tão carinhosos. Obrigada pelas amizades formadas aqui. ;) Bom... vamos ao layout? Vocês estão prontas? Essa semana tivemos que usar fita métrica como enfeite. Usei a minha pra demonstrar a passagem do tempo. Por que? Porque minha filha está crescendo depressa demais. Então quero que o tempo pare. Pra que ela continue sendo uma menininha, minha menininha... minha menininha caçula. Sei que isso é impossível mas... posso sonhar não é? E não existe melhor lugar pra registrar essa vontade minha do que num layout. Tea Time: Journaling

Ah... What a crazy, wonderful weekend we had. Even when I woke up sick on Sunday and then found Philip with a touch of what I had on Monday... Despite all that I can honestly say that the weekend was wonderfully spent in the company of great friends and kids. If my feeling under the weather was the price I had to pay for all the laughter and good times then I say "bring it on!" It was well worth it. But anyway... back to business. Or pleasure. Or maybe busniess mixed in with pleasure. How about we just call it Tea Time, ok? ;) I love working with pictures of my three munchkins. I rarely pose them for a picture. Or maybe that isn't completely true. I do tell them to stand together in such and such a spot. Otherwise I would never in a million years manage to get a picture of all three. But then, really it's all up to the kids. And I am rarely disappointed with the results. Their personalities shine. Arthur is usually the serious one. After all, he is going on 12. He smiles and tries to stand still long enough for mom to get THE shot. It's a mixture of trying to please me and trying to get away from the camera. Smart kid. :) Philip is a clown. He tries to make as many faces as he is possibly able to make before I actually press that shutter button. My job is to try and capture the funniest. He also is trying to get the other two to laugh so that no fake smiles can be seen in the picture. More often than not, he succeeds. Thanks for the entertainment kid. ;) And Diana... well she is simply Diana. She wants to help Philip in the busniess of entertaining. But at the same time she wants to add a little bit of her sassy personality. So she imitates but always on her own terms. She loves showing off for the camera. Got to love that girl. :D So here is my fun page... I hope you all enjoy looking at it. And once you are done don't forget to stop by the Scrap Café to see what the girls have been up to.

Nossa meu fim-de-semana foi maravilhoso mas uma loucura só. Domingo acordei com uma virose e Segunda Philipe acabou com a mesma coisa que tive. Hoje estamos bem melhor, graças a Deus. Apesar disso posso dizer com toda certeza do mundo que curti muito o fim-de-semana na compania de amigos maravilhosos e crianças mais maravilhosas ainda. Nem me incomodo de ter amanhecido passando mal no Domingo. Valeu a pena mesmo. Mas vamos falar de negócios. Ou prazer. Ou prazer misturado com negócios. Ou seja... vamos falar de nosso Tea Time? Adoro trabalhar com fotos dos meus três filhos. Raramente poso eles pra tirar uma foto. Quer dizer, de uma certa maneira até poso. Se não nunca conseguiria tirar uma foto dos três juntos. Então tenho que pelo menos pedir pra eles ficarem juntinhos. Mas aí o resto é por conta deles. Acabo sempre satisfeita com os resultados. Deixo eles fazerem a bugunça que querem fazer. E no final das contas acabo sempre vendo a personalidade das crianças nas fotos. Arthur é sempre o mais sério. Afinal ele tem quase 12 anos. Ele sorri e fica quieto no canto dele na esperança de que a mãe dele tire a foto perfeita. Ao mesmo tempo ele tenta me agradar e acabar com a sessão fotográfica. Eh menino inteligente. :) Philipe é meu palhaço. Ele tanta fazer todas as caretas do mundo enquanto tiro fotos. O meu dever é fotografar a careta mais engraçada. Ao mesmo tempo ele está tentando fazer os outros dois rirem pra que os sorrisos deles sejam bem naturais. O normal é todo mundo cair na gargalhada. Adoro isso. :D E aí tem a Diana... bom ele simplesmente é a Diana. Por um lado ela quer ajuda Philipe com suas palhaçadas mas sempre com um pouco da personalidade dela. Então ela imita mas sempre do jeito dela. Afinal de contas ela adora tirar fotos. Como amo essa menina! :D Então aqui está meu layout super divertido. Espero que gostem... Thanks to all for the wonderful Birthday Wishes... I had the most amazing time surrounded by the people I care most... And guess what I actually got for my birthday??? A Kindle!!! So if you ever just see me mysteriously disappear from this blog... you know where I will be... Curled up in bed with 3500 books (yep! that's how many books my kindle can hold), just reading. Especially now that the cooler weather seems to be here to stay. My basement can be unbelievably cold... And when it is THIS cold, there is nothing quite like a warm cup of coffee (or tea if you are not a coffee drinker like I am) to warm up the soul. Sooooo... here is this week's Tea Time. This is a picture of Philip and Conard (James' son). Philip has adored Conard from the very first moment he has layed eyes upon him. He laughs at absolutely all of Conard's jokes, he imitates him and just generally follows him around like a lost puppy. Conard (despite being 8 years his senior) is very tolerant of this devotion. He seems to enjoy making my boy laugh and doesn't seem to mind sharing the air he breathes with him either. Muito obrigada pelos lindos recados no meu post de aniversário. Amei todo o carinho... Meu aniversário foi simplesmente maravilhoso rodeado por pessoas muito queridas... E sabem o que ganhei??? Um Kindle!!! Então se um dia eu sumir podem crer que estou enroscada de baixo de um bom cobertor com 3500 livros (é verdade... meu kindle tem capacidade pra amarzenar tudo isso!). Ainda mais agora que o tempo frio chegou pra ficar aqui... meu quarto de scrap (que fica no porão daqui de casa) está uma verdadeira geladeira. E por falar em frio... não exite nada melhor nesse mundo do que um cafézinho (ou chá) bem quente pra esquentar a alma da gente não é? Então... já que vocês concordam comigo... que tal falarmos sobre o nosso Tea Time? Tive que usar essa foto do Philipe com o Conard (filho do James). Philipe tem verdadeira adoração pelo Conard: morre de rir com ele, vive imitando o menino e fica atrás dele como se fosse sua sombra. E Conard tem a maior paciência com meu menino apesar de ser 8 anos mais velho que ele. Aliás é mais do que paciência porque ele realmente parece curtir as gargalhadas do Philipe e não parece se incomodar com o menino grudado nele. Happy Birthday to Me!!! / Meu Aniversário!!!

Tomorrow, October 30th, is my birthday. And I will be celebrating in style: tonight James and his kids are going to make me a special dinner. Why tonight and not tomorrow? Because tomorrow I will be at a wedding. And Sunday is Halloween. So I figured I would stop by and share with you all that this is going to be a busy and incredibly wonderful weekend. I am grateful for moments like that. For the laughter and the love. For my kids and loved ones. You know what? This is a wonderful life!!!

Amanhã, dia 30 de Outubro, é meu aniversário. E vou comemorar em grande escala: James e os filhos dele vão fazer um jantar especial pra mim hoje. Por que hoje e não amanhã? Porque amanhã vou estar num casamento. E Domingo é Halloween. Então achei melhor passar aqui hoje e contar pra vocês que meu fim-de-semana será movimentado. Mas adoro momentos assim. Adoro os risos e o amor que esses momentos trazem. Amo meus filhos, familia e amigos. E querem saber de uma coisa? A vida realmente é linda!!!

So what to do on this blustery, raniy, thunder clad and with potential tornadoes? Why not post my Tea Time? This little mini was so much fun to put together. I decided to use the lyrics of a beautiful song by the Dixie Chicks and pictures of my kids, James' kids and James. A lot of distressing, crayons and love... I couldn't wait to get my hands on this this Tea Time. Why? Because we were able to start using the new Kit with it. And you should see it... absolutely gorgeous. Of course I had to use pictures of my boy. For some reason this week I was shocked to see how much my Arthur has grown. He is almost as tall as I am now. And yet somewhere in my memory he is no bigger than the day I brought him home from the hospital. Not that I would rewind time. Arthur is turning out to be an amazing young man. I really can't wait to see what's coming next. It's just that I feel like I blinked my eyes and he went from sweet baby to being the best kid he is able to be. So here is a layout about how amazing this kid is. Once you are done looking at it stop by the Scrap Café to see what the other girls have done.

Ai mal via a hora de botar as minhas mãos nesse Tea Time. Por que? Porque estavamos usando o novo Kit-ute Pé de Moleque. Ai vocês têm que ver a belezura que é esse kit-ute. É claro que tive que usar fotos do meu menino. Essa semana levei um susto com o Arthur. De repente me bateu que o menino está enorme. Ele está quase da minha altura!!! E por algum motivo na minha cabeça ele continua tão pequerrucho quanto o dia que trouxe ele pra casa do hospital. Não que queira voltar no tempo. Arthur é um menino pra lá de especial. E quero ver esse menino se transformando no homem maravilhos que sei que vai ser. Mas é que muitas vezes me sinto como se tivesse piscado os olhos e de repente ele se transformou num homenzinho. Então fiz um layout sobre esse menino maravilhoso. E não de ixem de passar lá no Café do Scrap quando terminarem de olhar o meu layout pra ver o que as meninas aprontaram.

I can't believe I am actually here... It feels like it's been a small eternity. Last week the boys had their Fall Break. So we decided to take some time away from home and go to St. George Island (in Florida) for the weekend. One of my best friends, Julie (and her boys) came along with us and we had just the most amazing time playing on the beach. I must say... my kids absolutely take after their mother: they can't stay away from the water. Diana just wanted to jump in the water completely naked. LOL I had to fight her to keep her underwear on (I forgot her bikini). Take a look at some of the pictures I took while there...

Ai... nem acredito que finalmente estou aqui. Acho que já se passou uma pequena eternidade. Semana passada os meninos tiveram 1 semana de férias então resolvemos levar as crianças para a ilha de St. George na Florida. Uma grande amiga minha e os filhos dela foram junto com a gente. Como nos divertimos naquela praia maravilhosa. E devo confessar, meus filhos não negam o sangue Carioca: não saiam de dentro do mar. Diana queria ir pelada. kkkk Tive que convencer a menina a usar a calcinha dela (esqueci o bikini dela em casa). Vejam só as fotos que tiramos lá...

From Florida we went to Georgia and spent most of the week there with Julie and her family. When we left Georgia we decided to take the long way home. All that because we wanted to stop at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Alabama. Wow! My boy (Arthur) was in space heaven. I took plenty of pictures there too but here are a couple of all 3 under the rocket.

Da Florida fomos para Georgia aonde passamos o resto da semana com a Julie e a familia dela. Quando saímos da Georgia resolvemos passar no U.S. Space and Rocket Center em Alabama. Nossa! Meu menino (Arthur) amou o lugar de paixão. Tirei muitas fotos lá mas só estou botando 2 aqui dos meus 3 juntinhos debaixo de um dos foguetes.

And now to our Tea Time... This week we had to create something to decorate our houses with. I made this cute frame to hang on the door to my room. I love all the textures I encorporated by both ripping paper and using fabric. Not to mention the layers. And don't forget to stop by the Scrap Café to see what the girls have created...

E agora ao nosso Tea Time... Essa semana resolvemos fazer algo para enfeitar nossa casa. Fiz esse quadrinho para dependurar na porta do meu quarto. Tea Time: Alterando Papel Decorado/ Altering Patterened Paper

So here we are for another Tea Time... And of course I had to scrapbook pictures of my Princess, especially after the gorgeous pictures I got from her Birthday. This layout is very appropriately entitled "Four". After all, she did turn 4. LOL. I always try to make my journalings significant. Far from me to criticize how other people scrapbook. But this is an art form that is very personal to me. If I can't express the emotion I feel when looking at the pictures then I have not done my job. And for that to be accomplished there must be some for of journaling. Plus I have this mental image of my children and grandchildren going through my albums and reading the words I carefuly chose to express how I feel. I can just imagine their delight. I know they will always have the certainty that they were loved. If they ever go through moments they doubt the existance of love... well... they can always turn to these pages. So even after I have left this earth, there will always be a part of me with them reminding them how much they meant to me and how proud I am of them. Estamos aqui pra mais um Tea Time... E é claro que tive que usar as lindas fotos da festinha da minha Princesa pro layout. Entitulei o layout "quatro" uma vez que Diana fez 4 aninhos. kkkkk. Sempre tenho que escrever algo em meus layouts. Jamais criticaria como uma pessoa gosta de fazer scrap. Mas esse é uma arte extremamente pessoal pra mim. Se não consigo expressar o que sinto quando olho para uma das minhas fotos então não fiz uma página decente. E só consigo fazer isso através do journaling. E tem mais... sempre imagino meus filhos e netos uma dia foleando meus álbuns e lendo o que escrevi. Fico imaginando a felicidade que irão sentir. Eles terão a certeza absoluta que uma dia foram amados. E se um dia tiverem um desses momentos repentinos aonde a gente duvida da existência do amor... bom... eles poderão sempre folear essas páginas. Então quando um dia não estiver mais aqui uma parte de mim ficará pra trás lembrando a eles o quanto os amo e o quanto me orgulho deles. Happy Birthday My Princess / Parabéns Princesa (& Tea Time)

My Princess is 4 today! We celebrated her birthday on Saturday and had a grand time at the park by the Ohio River in Louisville. It was a gorgeous day with plenty of kids and lots of laughter. Here are a few pictures of the Princess (in her tutu that Miss Steph made for her) and my gorgeous boys. My sweet girl, I hope you always keep me laughing. May you gorw up to be as sweet and lovable as you are today. I love you, baby!

Minha Princesa faz 4 anos hoje! Sábado comemoramos o aniversário dela num parque do lado do Ohio River em Louisville. O tempo estava perfeito e as crianças se divertiram a beça. Aqui estão algumas fotos da Princesa (em seu tutu que a Tia Steph dela fez) e meus meninos. Minha Lindinha, espero que sua vida seja cheia de sorrisos. And now for our Tea Time... This week we chose a layout that we had made for the idea book Papel Guardado for our Tea Time. I chose this one. I not only love the layout but the picture too. I was raised with books. My grandaddy was hugely responsible for this. I didn't think there were too many people out there like me. And then I met James. Hmmmm... Could my Grandpa have orchestrated this meeting from the other side? Maybe... The thing is that in James I found someone who loves to read as much as I do. This layout reflects that. Tea Time: Flowers (Flores) & The Color Room (Palette #23)

Ready for another Tea Time? This week we wanted to work with gorgeous flowers that came in the Kit Camafeu. I took this picture of my 3 and played around with it in photoshop until I got this gorgeous sepia effect on it. I love taking picture of the kids together. Capturing their togetherness and closeness is always a wonderful experience for me. There is just such joy in them and every time I see them like this I know I must be doing something right. Prontas pra outro Tea Time? Resolvemos trabalhar essa semana com as lindas flores do Kit-ute Camafeu. Usei essa foto dos meus 3 filhotes e alterei no photoshop até obter esse lindo tom de sepia nela. Amo tirar fotos desses 3 juntinhos. Meus filhotes são super apegados e ver essa proximidade deles através das fotos é sempre um grande prazer pra mim. Os 3 são tão cheios de alegria... Quando os vejo assim sei que devo estar criando eles direitinho. Tea Time: Journaling

Ready for another Tea Time? This was a special one... I went out with the kids a little over a week ago and took some new pictures of them. This is my Diana. She is wearing my Mom's 1st Communion dress. It's really big on her. But there was something very sweet about seeing her in a dress that Mom wore and that I played with. Of course I was just naturally drawn to use one of the (many) pictures I took in this layout. Prontas para um outro Tea Time? O dessa semana me emocionou. Há uma semana atrás mais ou menos saí com as crianças pra tirar fotos novas deles. Eis aqui uma foto da minha Diana. Tea Time (Sketch), Donna Downey & The Color Room

Temos muito a conversar essa semana... Então peguem um cafézinho (com um pedaço de bolo), sentem-se numa poltrona e vamos lá... ;)

You must have thought we had forgotten our Tea Time this week... Well we didn't. But with the long weekend things just got delayed. I took the time to enjoy my kids. I hope you had a chance to relax too. But getting back to the subject at hand. This week we had fun playing with a sketch. I found a picture of my Diana when she was still a baby. She was such a delicious little thing. And she still is although now there is a good dose of humor mixed in with all her sweetness. Words will never be able to completely describe her. But... having said that here is a little snippet of the little comedian in bloom. My daughter claims that her butt snores and that she has a melting nose when she has a cold. Yes... I laughed until it hurt. LOL Well once you are done looking at my little Beauty run on over to the Scrap Café and take a look at what the girls have created...

Bom vocês devem estar achando que esquecemos do nosso Tea Time, não é? Nã-nã-ni-nã-não. Mas com o feriadão as coisas se atrasaram um pouco. E aproveitei o tempo pra curtir as crianças aqui em casa. Espero que vocês também tenhamo aproveitado o tempo pra descansar. Mas voltanod ao assunto. Essa semana brincamso com um sketch. Achei uma foto da minha Diana quando ela ainda era um bebê. Ela era tão gostosa. E ainda é mas agora além de "gortosa" ela é também é uma palhaça. Nunca vou conseguir explicar exatamente o que é essa criança. Mas... posso pelo menos dar uns exemplos das gracinhas dela. Minha filha diz que o bumbum dela ronca e o nariz dela derrete quando ela está resfriada. The second thing I wanted to share is that I got featured in Donna Downey's newsletter again. Pretty cool huh? I was so excited about this. And guess what? Mom got featured too. Very exciting. Donna said she was going to post ALL of our layouts (yes we sent in a bunch) on her Facebook Page but so far she hasn't posted anything. But keep checking back. At some point they will all be there. In the meantime... check out what she wrote in her newsletter and the page I made. Thank you Donna for the opportunity. It really is thrilling.

A outra coisa que gostaria de contar pra vocês é que fui destaque no newsletter da Donna Downey de novo. Super legal, não é? Fiquei super hiper feliz. E sabem o que mais? Mamãe também foi destaque. Super hiper legal. A Donna disse que iria botar TODAS (sim mandamos um montão) as páginas no Facebook dela mas até agora nadica de nada. Mas podem ficar de olho porque logo, logo ela bota lá. E nesse meio tempo olem aí no newsletter o que a Donna escreveu a respeito do meu layout e o layout em si. Obrigada Donna pela oportunidade. Fiquei mtuiot feliz.

This is a picture of my great-aunt Bebeca who was always such an inspiration to me. In spite of all the adversity she faced (a failed marriage and the loss of two of her four children) she was always able to smile and enjoy life. I love her and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss her.

Essa é uma foto da minha Tia-Avó Bebeca que sempre foi uma inspiração em minha vida. Apesar das muitas tristezas da vida dela (um casamento que não deu certo e a perda de dois filhos) ela sempre foi capaz de enfrentar a vida com um sorriso e muita alegria. Como amo essa minha velhinha (ai... ela detestava quando chamava ela assim). E que saudades dela...

The Color Room Palette # 21

So this was the palette proposed by The Color Room. And Mom (Julia Cotrim) got so inspired that she created this new line of papers (Oulala! Quel Couleurs!) to coordinate with the palette.

This is my Diana with her new pony. We went to the toy store to get a big girl toy because she had slept all night in her big girl bed. But she picked out this "baby" toy instead. Her reason? Because she could take the pony to bed with her. How can I argue with logic like that... ;)

Essa é minha Diana e seu novo cavalinho. Fomos a uma loja de brinquedo comprar um brinquedo de menina grande porque ela dormiu na cama dela a noite toda já que ela é uma menina grande. Mas ela escolheu esse brinquedo de "bebê". Sabem porque? Porque ela podia dormir com esse cavalinho na cama dela. Posso com isso? ;)

But there is one thing that never will change: the love I have for my kids. This is why I love taking pictures of them together. Because when I look at them I know they have all of my heart. It's out... After many months putting the book together... it finally came out over the weekend and is now being sold at our store... This edition is a must see. The format has been redesigned and it is a feast for the eyes. Not to mention the content... Wow!!! Our designers have really surpassed themselves... Just take a look at some of the details on their pages in the slideshow... A HUGE thank you to all who participated. We also have some great ads with some discount coupons in the book. Oh... and before I forget... the book (for those who buy it) does come with a recorded class (in Portuguese) on how to stamp with bleach... Saiu... Depois de alguns meses de muito trabalho o livro já está às vendas em nossa banca... Vocês têm que ver essa edição. Tea Time: Sketch

Can you feel it? Yes... Love is in the air. And this Tea Time totally refelects the romance aparent in the pictures. Those two young people, just about to start their lives are my grandparents in 1946. They were on their honeymoon. Their story was absolutely beautiful: they were cousins who knew each other all their lives. Grandpa always said that he knew from the moment he layed eyes on her that she was the one for him. It was love at first sight. He always melted in her presence, even in his old age. I love their story, I love them. And I am so glad this kit was able to reflect the beauty of their love story. So now that you are done looking at what I have created, run on over to the Scrap Café to see what the other girls have done... ;)

Ah o amor... O amor é lindo. E esse Tea Time reflete o romance palpável das fotos. Estes dois jovens que estavam apenas começando a vida deles são meus avós em 1946. Estavam na Lua-de-Mel deles. E a história deles é linda de morrer: eram primos e se conheciam desde muito pequeninos. Vovô sempre dizia que quando viu Vovó pela primeira vez (bebê ainda) ela sabia que era com ela que ele iria se casar. Foi amor à primeira vista. Sempre que estava junto dela, se derretia todo, mesmo quanda já estava velhinho. Amo a história deles, amo eles. Amo também que esse kit-ute consegue refeltir a beleza da história de amor deles. Emtão quando terminarem de olhar meu layout aí, passem lá no Café do Scrap pra ver o que as meninas aprontaram... ;)

6 Months Later... / Já se passaram 6 meses

So 6 months ago (yesterday) I met a very special person... And since that day life has become... well... just better. No matter how many obstacles I have come across, he has always managed to bring me some peace. I am more at ease when he is around. Slowly but surely I have come to realize he is that best friend my heart had been longing for... I know this is just the beginning and that the future belongs... hmmm... in the future. But for right now I am very happy. And there is nowhere else I would rather be. So to celebrate this day I made a card for him. And since it is a "scrap-worthy" card, I figured I would share it. ;)

Ontem fez 6 meses que conheci uma pessoa muito especial... E de repente minha vida ficou mais bonita. A presença dele sempre me traz um pouco de paz, independente dos problemas do dia-a-dia. Me sinto mais "eu" quando ele está por perto. Aos poucos percebi que ele é o melhor amigo do qual sentia tanta falta... Sei que ainda estamos no início da nossa história e que o futuro... bem... o futuro pertence à Deus. Mas neste exato momento estou muito feliz. E é aqui aonde quero ficar. Então para comemorar esta data fiz um cartão que achei que vocês fossem gostar de ver. ;)

Tea Time: Caderno Alterado/ Altered Composition Book

This week's Tea Time had a back to school feel. At least for me... The idea was to alter a composition book. And I got so excited about it that I made two. Both of them for James' girls. Both girls love cats so of course that was my theme. I put a pocket inside the books with tags that the girls could use as bookmarks. I kept the back of the book as simple as possible so that the girls could either make notes or put some pictures there. I think they turned out pretty cute and I think the girls liked what I made for them. Now grab your coffee and run on over to the Scrap Café to see what the girls have been up to.

O Tea Time dessa semana tava com sabor de volta às aulas. Pelo menos pra mim... A idéia era alterar um caderno. Gostei tanto da idéia que acabei fazendo dois. Ambos para as filhas do James. As duas amam gatos então tive que usar esse tema, é claro. Dentro dos cadernos botei bolsos com etiquetas que poderiam ser usados como marcadores de livros. Deixei a parte de trás dos cadernos bem simples assim as meninas poderiam escrever ou colar fotos ali. Achei que os cadernos ficaram uma graça e acho que as meninas gostaram deles também. Donna Downey e Tea Time (Mini Álbum de Canvas)

So... guess who got featured in Donna Downey's Campaign for Creativity (in her Newsletter) again? Me!!! So awesome. And look at what she wrote about my layout... Love it! Donna said she received so many layouts on canvas that she was only able to feautre a few but she the rest was going to be posted on her Facebook Gallery. Now what she doesn't know is that we Oulalas all joined forces and flooded her e-mail with our layouts. Donna's theme this month was using canvas and we have been working with canvas for months now. So we figured... why not? So don't forget to make a take a peek at all the beautiful things Mom, Pati, Chris and I sent her.

Então... tenho novidades. Adivinhe quem apareceu no newsletter da Donna Downey (na seção Campanha pela Criatividade)? Eu!!! Fiquei duper feliz!!! E olhem aí o que a Donna escreveu a respeito do meu layout... Muito legal! Donna disse que recebeu tanto trabalho que ela só pode escolher alguns pra botar no newsletter dela. O resto ela botou na galeria do Facebook dela. O que ela não sabe e nem sequer desconfia é que nós Oulalas aproveitamos o tema de canvas pra mandar tudo o que temos aprontado com canvas... Tem cada trabalho lindo. Então depois corram lá na galeria da Donna pra ver os trabalhos da Mamãe, Pati e Chris também.

It's because of them that I don't give up. When I feel exhausted and I think I have no more strength I look at them and I know that I am capable of taking just one more step. It's because of this single act that I am aware that my supply is always unlimited. Because I know I am always capable of just one more step. It's because of them that I laugh, I breathe and I search for joy in everything. I love them. And this mini album is all about the intense emotion that I see coming from them. So this weeks's Tea Time came directly from our idea book Papel Guardado. I love this layout. It expresses so much about how I feel about my kiddos. They are trully all I have in this life. And as long as I have them I know I have roots. I can look at them and know that I too came from a place of magic. Sometimes amidst all the craziness of my life I tend to forget. But their presence constantly reminds me that I belong. I may not have much and I may have even less to offer but I know I am giving the world 3 of my greatest creations. O Tea Time dessa semana veio diretamente do nosso livro Papel Guardado. Amo esse layout. Nele demonstro o que sinto pelos meus filhotes. Eles são realmente tudo o que tenho nessa vida. E sei que minhas raizes estão presentes neles. Basta olhar para eles e vejo que também vim de um lugar cheio de magia. Muitas vezes esqueço disso, especialmente com os afazeres do meu dia-a-dia. Mas a presença deles sempre me faz lembrar que eu também pertenço a alguém. Sei que possua pouca coisa. Sei que tenho pouco a oferecer. Tea Time: Sketch & Technique/Técnica

Yes... I was out of town. Again. This time we went to spend the weekend with one of my best friends in Georgia. We had an absolutley amazing time... But now I am back with this week's Tea Time. And over 160 e-mails to go through. So if you have e-mailed me... please be patient. I will get back to you. Eventually. But back to the Tea Time. This week we worked both with a card sketch and with a technique. I loved the way this layout turned out. Of course I love the picture of my very precocious baby girl too. I have had a lot of fun here lately playing with the color of the pictures and adding texture to them. Yes... I do spend more time editing them but I personally think it is worth my time. ;) So once you are done looking at what I did run on over to the Scrap Café to see what the girls have done. Also take a look at out new kit... It is absolutely gorgeous!!!

É, eu sei... viajei de novo. Dessa vez fui passar um fim-de-semana com uma das minhas melhores amigas lá na Georgia. Foi muito bom. Mas agora tô de volta e com o Tea Time da semana. Não vamos nem mencionar os 160 e-mails que tenho que ler e responder. Portanto se você tentou entrar em contato comigo, tenha um pouco de paciência... já, já te mando um e-mail. ;) Bom... voltando ao Tea Time. Essa semana trabalhamos com um sketch de cartão e uma técnica. Eu particularmente amei o meu layout. É claro que a foto da minha filhota ajuda. E muito. Tenho brincado muito com as cores e texturas das minhas fotos ultimamente. Ahhh... another Tea Time using pictures from my trip to North Carolina. Every morning we would wake up and head for those rocking chairs on the front porch, drink our coffees and enjoy watching the world wake up around us. Such peaceful and magical days... *sigh* I miss those mountains. Working on this layout was just as magical as those days. I had fun picking out the pictures, working on them and then adding all the embellishments. So take a seat on my front porch, enjoy your coffee and then head on over to the Scrap Café to see what the girls have done...

Ahhh... outro Tea Time usando fotos da minha viagem para a Carolina do Norte. Toda manhã acordávamos e nos sentavamos nessas cadeiras de balanço na varanda. Lá tomavamos nosso cafézinho enquanto viamos o mundo acordadno aos poucos ao nosso redor. Foram dias realmente mágicos e cheios de paz... Como sinto falta dessas montanhas. Tea Time: Another Card Sketch

Yes... We are working with another card sketch. After all this is the month for cards in our Tea Times. Why? Because we deemed it so. Ha ha ha. And of course since I love being such a free spirit, I just had to take those card sketches and make them into layouts. So here is this week's layout. A picture of Philip and Diana taken in 2006 when my girl was not even 1 month old. Time does fly... Philip had been begging to hold Diana so I sat him on my bed surrounded by pillows and layed his sister in his arms. Then I went about my business. When I came back, this was the scene I found: brother and sister sleeping together. Of course I had to take a picture. But only now was I able to transform it into a layout. Sim... Estamos trabalhando com mais um cartão de sketch. Afinal esse é o mês dos cartões em nossos Tea Times. Por que? Porque nós decidimos assim. kkkk. E como adoro ser diferente, é claro que tive que transformar o sketch de cartão em layout. Então aqui está o meu layout da semana. Uma foto do Philipe e da Diana que tirei em 2006 quando minha menina tinha menos de 1 mês de vida. Gente, como o tempo voa... Philipe tinha pedido para segurar a irmã então botei o menino na minha cama rodeado de travesseiros com a irmã nos braços. E aí fui cuidar da vida. Quando voltei encontrei essa cena: os dois dormindo juntinhos. É claro que tive que tirar uma foto. Mas só agora pude transformar em layout. Tea Time: Sketch

Oh what fun I had creating this Tea Time! This week we had to work with a sketch that was specifically designed for cards. But instead of a card I was inspired to make a layout. I used this gorgeous picture I took during my week in North Carolina and made this little work of art. A little paint here, some decorations there, a lot of love later and here is the result. Como curti esse Tea Time! Essa semana a proposta era usar um sketch feito para cartões. Mas ao invés de cartões, me inspirei e fiz um layout. Usei esta linda foto que tirei na Carolina do Norte e fiz essa pequena obra de arte. Um pouquinho de tinta aqui, alguns enfeites acolá, uma boa dose de amor e eis o resultado. I'm back from North Carolina!!! We had a wonderful time there... And I have a million pictures to edit but as soon as they are done I will post them here. In the meantime I am here with last Monday's Tea Time. Yes a little late... But when you are being held hostage in a gorgeous little cottage right in the middle of the mountains with no cel phone or internet access with a very handsome man... Well... you know... I was not exactly thinking of the weekly Tea Time... LOL But I'm here now. This week we worked with a really fun technique. My results are below. Tea Time: Journaling

I really loved the way this Tea Time turned out... Mainly because I got to take a look back at the last 4 years of my life and see how far I have come. There are many things I still want to do but taking a look back was refreshing. I am surrounded by so much love. Oh I know I come across stumbling blocks and I have to figure them out but over all I couldn't have asked for a better moment in my life. The quote by Victor Hugo was perfect for this reflection. Yes... I enjoy my life. And I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store for me... So here is to the many adventures yet to come!!! Speaking of which, I'm off on an adventure to North Carolina with James. We will be gone for 1 week so next week my Tea Time will be posted mid-week. So just keep your eyes on it. Ai amei esse Tea Time... Talvez porque pude rever os últimos 4 anos da minha vida e pude reparar quanta coisa mudou nela. Tem muita coisa que ainda quero que mude mas foi bom olhar pra trás e ver o que já consegui conquistar. Pude ver que estou tão cercada de amor... Tea Time: Fitas, Rendas etc/ Ribbons, Lace etc.

Ohlala!!! Could we have a more luscious Tea Time than one that explores the many uses of laces, ribbons etc? I felt like such a Southern Belle donned in one of those Scralett O'Hara type dresses. Oh the joy... So here is what I did: lots of lace, lots of ribbon... Of course there had to be some hand stitching. The background was made of canvas and I sprayed some Tattered Angels glimmer mist over a mask. It turned it out divine in my opinion. :D So now that you have seen my page grab your coffee and ron on over to the Scrap Café to see what the girls have created...

Oulala!!! A gente podia ter criado um Tea Time mais chique do que um cheio de babados, fitas, rendas e afins? Me senti a própria Dama Antiga vestindo um desses lindos vestidos de Sinhá Moça. Ai que delícia... Então tá aqui o que fiz: um monte de renda, um monte de fita... É claro que não podia faltar a costura à mão. O fundo é de canvas e borrifei tinta spray da Tattered Angels por cima de uma máscara. Tea Time: Pintando com Lápis Aquarelável/ Painting with Watercolor Penscils

I'm starting off this week's Tea Time a little late but in my defense it was Memorial Day yesterday and I had a grand day planned. ;) Our plan this week was to paint with watercolor pencils and use fabric in our layouts. The results? Absolutely fantastic. I just had to use these pictures of Arthur and Diana together. Arthur has been head over heels in love with his sister from the moment she was born and that is just beyond apparent in these pictures! The technique used in the layout is simple and quite fun. Ai tô postando meu Tea Time essa semana um pouco atrasada mas tenho uma excelente desculpa: ontem foi feriado aqui e tive um dia cheio com as crianças. ;) A idéia essa semana foi pintar usando lápis aquarelável e tecido em nossos layouts. O resultado ficou simplesmente maravilhoso. Amo essas fotos de Arthur e Diana juntos então é claro que tive que usá-las em minha página. Arthur sempre foi alucinado pela irmã desde que botou os olhos nela quando ela nasceu. E isto está mais do que claro nessas fotos! A técninca usada no layout é super simples e divertida. Tea Time: Templates de Bordar / Embroidery Templates

I have always loved to embroider. Especially on my scrapbook pages. If you have not yet tried it because you think it is too difficult or too complicated than you have not tried an embroidery template. The one that comes with the latest kit by the Scrap Café is really cool. And of course this week's Tea Time had to demonstrate their versatility. I used the flower template but instead of embroidering the entire flower I chose to use only the swirls and leaves. The rose itself is a ribbon embroidery. I love that I got to embroider on this page with a picture of my grandparents, especially since my granny was the one who taught me how to embroider. Sempre amei bordar. Especialmente em páginas de scrap. E vocês? Já experimentaram bordar? Tem gente que acha muito complicado e difícil mas na minha opinião é porque nunca usaram um template de bordar. O template que vem junto com o Kit-ute Ninho de Ovos está um show! Então é claro que tivemos que usar em nosso Tea Time da semana. Principalmente para mostrar sua versatilidade. Usei o template de flor no meu layout mas ao invés de bordar a flor inteira resolvi usar somente os doodles e as folhas. A rosa foi bordada com fita. Adorei ter bordado nesta página com foto de meus avós uma vez que foi minha avózinha que me ensinou a bordar. Mammoth Cave

So Saturday the kids and I went on an adventure: Mammoth Cave. It was Amelia's Birthday Adventure. So with peanut butter cookies, oatmeal cookies with butterscotch morsels and brownies in hand (all baked by... who else? Moi!) we headed on south to the largest known cave on earth. The kids had a great time. I was the official photographer (as usual) but James did pry my finger off the shutter button long enough to get a group shot with me in it. So here are the pictures. Enjoy!!! And yes... Happy Birthday Amelia!!!

Pois então... Sábado eu e as crianças fizemos um lindo passeio. Fomos em direção a Mammoth Cave pois era aniversário da Amelia. Passei sexta na cozinha fazendo 2 tipos de biscoito e brownies para a garotada (eles amaram) e sábado pegamos o carro e fomos para o maior sistema de cavernas do mundo. As crianças amaram, é claro. Pra variar tive que ser a fotografa oficial mas James conseguiu tirar a câmera das minhas mãos pra tirar uma foto da galera comigo. Então curtam as fotos!!! Ah... E Parabéns Amelia!!!

Tea Time: Sketch!!!

I love sketches but I must admit I have a hard time being completely faithful to them. I always use them as a starting point and then I move on from there. But if you look you can always find the elements proposed by the sketch on my layouts. This layout I made for this week's Tea Time is no different. Even though I was not very faithful to the sketch I loved the results. A little gesso, Maya Road and Tattered Angels mists and I got those amazing results behind the pictures. A lovely compliment to the fun pictures of my baby girl wearing this dress my Granny knitted for me when I was Diana's age. So check out what I have done and then (with coffee in hand) run on over to the Scrap Café to see what the girls have created. The results are so very different from another and yet drop dead gorgeous!

Amo sketches mas devo adimitir que as vezes não sou fiel ao que foi proposto. Acabo sempre usando mais como inspiração que qualquer outra coisa. Mas se olharem bem vão perceber que (quase) todos os elementos do sketch estão sempre presente. Foi assim que fiz esse layout para o Tea Time dessa semana. Apesar do layout estar diferente do sketch amei o resultado. Aí usei gesso, tinta spray e eis o resultado da moldura dando destaque às fotos divertidas da minha filha usando um vestido que minha avó fez pra mim quando tinha a idade da Diana. Então depois de verem o que aprontei aí, passem lá no Café do Scrap (com o seu cafézinho, é claro) e vejam o que as meninas criaram. Os layouts estão super diferentes um do outro e cada um mais lindo que o outro.

Scrap Pra Chamar de Meu (I'm the Guest Designer)

So get this... About a week ago I got a lovely e-mail with an invitation to be this month's Guest Designer of the blog "Scrap Pra Chamar de Meu". You could not even begin to imagine the joy I felt. I love the work these girls come up with and the many challenges they have on their blog. The purpose of their work is to get us to scrap a little bit more about ourselves. In this crazy life we have, we all tend to forget the person behind the art. I know just by flipping through the many pages I have created there are thousands of pictures and words about the people that matter most to me. And that makes me happy. But I do sometimes wonder... when I am no longer a part of their lives how will they remember me? Will they know about my hopes and dreams? Will they know exactly what I liked? So I realize the importance of leaving a part of who I am in my scrapbooks. Sometimes that is easier said than done because honestly where exactly do you start? Thus the beauty of the challenges found at "Scrap Pra Chamar de Meu": small (albeit important) slices of who you are. You have got to love a blog like that... So their challenge this month was all about your favorite color. My favorite color? Pink! Always has been and more than likely always will be. I found pictures of myself throughout the years where I have worn that color to display on the page. I briefly explained my love affair with pink in my journaling... I'm sure one day my kids will just shake their heads and explain to their own grandchildren how my life was just monochromatically (is that even a word?) pink!!!

Pois vocês nem vão acreditar... Semana passada recebi um e-mail com um lindo convite pra ser a Guest Designer desse mês no blog Scrap Pra Chamar de Meu. Vocês não podem nem imaginar a felicidade que senti... Amo os trabalhos dessas meninas e dos desafios postados lá. O propósito deste blog é fazer a gente criar páginas de scrap sobre a gente. Porque é mais do que natural a gente esquecer de fazer páginas sobre a pessoa que está por trás de nossa arte... Vai olhar seus álbuns de scrap... Os meus estão recheadinhos de páginas com fotos e palavras sobre as pessoas mais importantes da minha vida. E é claro que isso me faz feliz. Mas sempre me pergunto: quando já não estiver mais na vida dos meus filhos (daqui a milhares de anos) como é que eles vão saber quem eu fui? Dos meus sonhos? Do que mais gostava nessa vida? Então sei bem a importânica de deixar um pouco de quem sou nos meus álbuns. Mas por onde começar? Nem sempre é uma decisão fácil. Por isso gosto tanto do Scrap Pra Chamar de Meu. Em doses pequenas, as meninas do blog encentivam a gente a documentar um pouco de nós. É impossível não se apaixonar por um blog assim... O desafio desse mês é falar sobre sua cor predileta. A minha? Sempre foi e sempre será Rosa. Procurei fotos minhas em idades diversas usando essa cor pra fazer a página. No journaling contei um pouco sobre a minha obsessão com o rosa. Tenho certeza agora de que meus filhos vão, um dia, poder rir com seus netos ao lembrar que minha vida sempre foi monocromaticamente (acho que acabei de inventar essa palavra) rosa!!!

Tea Time: Journaling (Entre Outras Coisas)/ (Among Other Things)

It's Tea Time!!! Woohoo!!! Our theme this week was to journal and use a scroll. The scroll could either be open or closed, with journaling in it or not. I chose to use fabric for my scroll and journal in it. The result? A fun little scroll that acted as a gorgeous border to my picture. Here is a little tip for all of you to think about. It's an old tip but I know that as the official photographer in the family I always forget to use it. Take you camera and put it on a tripod (or other stable object). And then use the timer on the camera. We took turns figuring out who would press the button on the camera and then run into the shot. Guess what came of it... Some very fun pictures with genuine smiles and lots of laughter. Oh yes... I was actually in the pictures with my kids. Now run on over to the Scrap Café to see what the other girls (we have an amazing guest designer!) have been up to with their scrolls. I'm sure you will love the results...

Oba!!! Tá na hora de mais um Tea Time!!! Nosso tema essa semana foi journaling (usando uma linda frase de Mário Quintana) e usar um pergaminho. O pergaminho podia ser aberto ou fechado, com journaling dentro dele ou não. Resolvi usar tecido pra fazer meu. O reultado? Um pergaminho colorido e divertido que acabou virando uma borda pra minha foto. Aqui vai uma pequena dica pra vocês sobre a foto. É um dica bem antiga aliás mas como a fotógrafa oficial da minha família é uma dica sempre esquecida. Pegue sua câmera e ponha num tripé ou num objeto estável. Aí use o timer de sua câmera. Nós nos divertimos escolhendo quem é que ia apertar o bendito botão e depois sair correndo pra chegar perto do grupo antes da câmera tirar a foto. Adivinhem o que aconteu... Fotos super divertidas com sorrisos maravilhosos e muita gargalhada. Ah sim... eu tive a oportunidade de estar na foto com as crianças. Agora passem correndo lá no Café do Scrap pra ver o que as outras meninas (temos uma guest designer maravilhosa!) aprontaram. Tenho certeza de que vocês vão amar...

Tea Time: Dia das Mães/ Mother's Day

Since Mother's Day is right around the corner, we decided to dedicate this Tea Time to Moms. My Mom is simply amazing. I have learned so much from her throughout the years: to hug and kiss often; to say sorry when I know I have made a mistake; to stand firm in what I believe in but also to not be afraid to change my mind; to always grow and change; to look at the world with a smile; to laugh even if I'm crying; to always be positive; to be silly; to never forget to play; and to love whole heartedly, always... I love spending time with her, even if that time is phone time. Our love for each other definitely transcends that of mother and daughter. We are friends, business partners and even partners in crime. :D Art, love and life have to work out for us simply because we want it to. We make the distance that separates us almost non-existant. We transform monotony into magic. This is what our relationship is like. That and so much more... All because one day she held me in her arms and made sure I always knew that she would be there for me. So this layout is all about our relationship. Já que o Dia das Mães está quase aí, resolvemos dedicar esse Tea Time às Mães. Minha Mãe é maravilhosa. Aprendei tanto com ela no decorrer dos anos: a abraçar e beijar com muita frequência; a pedir desculpas quando sei que errei; a acreditar em minhas convicções mas também de não ter medo de mudar de idéia; a sempre aprender com a vida; a olhar para o mundo com um sorriso; a rir mesmo se estiver chorando; a sempre ser positiva; a ser boba; a brincar; e a sempre amar com todo meu coração... Adoro estar bem pertinho dela, mesmo que esse "pertinho" seja pelo telefone. O nosso amor é mais do que o amor de mãe e filha. Somos amigas e sócias. Sabemos praticamente de tudo a respeito uma da outra. :D A arte, o amor e a vida têm que dar certo pra nós porque a gente quer que isso aconteça. Transformamos a distânica que nos separa em uma quase não-distância. A nossa monotonia do dia-a-dia é mágica. O nosso relacionamento é isso. É isso e muito mais. Tudo poque um dia ela me segurou em seus braços e prometeu estar sempre do meu lado. Então este layout é sobre nosso relacionamento. Spring Getaway/ Um Fim-de-Semana durante a Primavera

Last weekend James took me on a small trip to Indiana. He carefully planned the entire trip around what he knew I liked and kept it a secret so that he could surprise me. The kids were in great hands thanks to Maria so this was meant to be a weekend for just the two of us. We headed out Friday and took the backroads to Indiana. Quite by accident we came across a gorgeous inn in Story, IN where we decided to have dinner. And then we headed on to our central location in Columbus, IN. On Saturday morning (and most of Sunday) we walked around the town of Nashville. Ah the joys of Nashville... The weather, the houses, the blooming flowers... Not to mention that it is an artsy/craftsy kind of town so my mind was going a million miles a minute especially when we came across the Ferrer Gallery. Dixie Ferrer is a local mixed media collage artist and I just fell in love with her work. In the afternoon I was whisked away to Indianapolis to have dinner at a Brazilian Steakhouse (churrascaria) called Fogo de Chão. It was just so nice to eat some Brazilian food again: I drank guaraná (soda), ate cheese bread and had meat to last me a life-time. James loved the experience and by the time we left we felt like two boa constrictors after swallowing a whole elephant. LOL. And then it was off to Indiana University (in Bloomington) to watch the live producton of West Side Story. What a show!!! The production was amazing!!! In essence the weekend provided us with some wonderful alone time and plenty of photo opportunities... Yes, I did get carried away with all the pictures of flowers, buildings and a covered bridge. But I am very grateful for James' patience, encouragement and enthusiasm as I said for the millionth time: "just one more shot..." So James, thank you so much for the weekend. I will always cherish these days of "just the two of us".

Fim-de-semana passado eu e James fizemos uma pequena viagem para Indiana. Ele planejou o fim-de-semana inteiro de acordo com o que ele sabia que eu gostava e guardou segredo pra poder me surpreender. As crianças ficaram sobre os cuidados de Tia Maria então realmente essa foi uma viagem só pra nós dois. Sexta a gente saiu daqui e pegou várias estradinhas a caminho de Indiana. Muito por um acaso descobrimos um pequenino hotel (muito charmoso, por sinal) em Story, IN. Nos apaixonamos pelo lugar e acabamos jantando por lá mesmo. Depois continuamos nas estradas a caminho de nosso hotel em Columbus, IN. De lá fomos a uma cidade chamada Nashville e passamos boa parte de Sábado e a maior parte de Domingo caminhando pelas ruas. Nashville é uma cidade cheia de coisas artesanais e trabalhos artísticos. Fiquei alucinada com as casas, as flores e não vamos mencionar os trabalhos em si. Me encantei especificamente com uma artista local chamada Dixie Ferrer que faz umas colagens de te levar à loucura. Minha cabeça ficou fervilhando de idéias. Sábado também fomos a Indianapolis jantar numa churrascaria chamada Fogo de Chão. Deu pra matar as saudades, viu gente? Tomei guaraná, comi pão de queijo além daquela quantidade enorme de carne. James amou o lugar e no final do jantar parecíamos 2 jibóias que tinham engolido um elefante. kkkk. Depois disso fomos à Universidade de Indiana (em Bloomington) assistir West Side Story ao vivo. Afe! Que produção maravilhosa!!! Amei!!! Em suma... o fim-de-semana foi tudo de bom. Tivemos oportunidade de estar sozinhos (coisa impossível aqui em casa com as crianças) e pude tirar milhões de fotos. Sei que exagerei um pouco nas fotos de flores, casas e até de uma ponte coberta mas James teve a maior paciência comigo. Além disso ele me incentivou (muito) a cada vez que eu dizia "peraí, deixa eu tirar só mais uma foto desse ângulo!". Então James... super obrigada pelos dias maravolhosos. Vou guardar pra sempre em meu coração essa linda memória de só nós dois.

Tea Time: Alterando uma Bolsa de Canvas/ altering a Canvas Bag

Yay!!! I love our inspirational weekly Tea Times. Especially when we can think out of the box and come up with something very unique. This week we took a plain canvas bag and altered it. Oh the joy: my hands were not only covered in paint but I took small strips of fabric to embroider the pocket on te bag. The result? Messy hands and fingers that screamed ouch! Oh... you mean the bag... Well take a peak at the pictures below. And when you are done run on over to the Scrap Café to see what the other girls have come up with. The results were so different that it is hard to believe we all started with the same bag.

Oba!!! Como eu amo nossos Tea Times semanais cheios de inspiração. Especialmente quando a gente cria algo totalmente único. Dessa vez, pegamos uma bolsa da canvas super simples e transformamos ela em algo espetacular. Vocês nem imaginam minha felicidade: além das minhas mão estarem cobertas de tinta, peguei tiras de tecido e bordei flores no bolso da bolsa. O resultado? Uma melequeira danada nas mãoes e dedos que gritavam de dor. Não era isso que queriam saber não? Ah... vocês estão mai interessadas na bolsa... Então vejam o resultado aí embaixo. 5 Anos de Papel Guardado/ 5 years of the Book Papel Guardado

Who knew? 5 years ago Mom and I came up with this little project: to inspire scrapbookers in Brazil with a magazine in digital format that was completely geared towards them. Since then so much has happened both in our personal and professional lives. And the magazine has grown so much that we had to re-baptize it as a book. Wow!!! These 5 years have trully been amazing and we must thank our faithful readers. What a journey!!! So here is the scoop: anyone who takes the above logo and places it on their blog and links that post to the Scrap Café will be entered in a random drawing to win the next edition of Papel Guardado. We sill be giving away 3 digital books. But don't take too long because it must be posted by April 30th. I would love to thank all of you in advance... And here's to the next 5 years!

Tea Time: Buttons/ Botões

I love this Tea Time. Not only did we select an embellishment (buttons) I love to use but I got to use the map (from the Kit-ute Bombom Voyage) on a layout that was not depicting a trip. Taking a paper or an embellishment out of what it was originally intended for is always a challenge but one I really enjoy taking on. It's just a matter of thinking out of the box. In this layout I used a picture of my Arthur and journaled about how he could conquer the world with his dreams. When you take the journaling into consideration you can see how the selected papers and embellishments fit perfectly fit into the theme of the layout. So I hope you enjoy the page and don't forget to run on over to the Scrap Café (grab a cup of coffee while you're at it) to see what the other girls did. Our guest designer sent us a card as well as a layout to inspire us all.

Amei este Tea Time. Além de termos usado um material que amo (botões) usei um mapa (do Kit-ute Bombom Voyage) num layout que não tem nada a var com viagem. Adoro procurar usos alternativos assim para papés e enfeites. É só uma questão de olhar as coisas de modo diferente. Neste layout peguei uma foto do meu Arthur e fiz um journaling sobre ele conquistando o mundo com os sonhos dele. Quando levamos isso em consideração dá pra ver como o papel e os enfetes têm tudo a ver com o tema do layout. Então espero que gostem da página.
